This week, if you know someone with an eating disorder, try to extend them the compassion and care that you would afford anyone else.
I’m here for anyone who is looking towards recovery and health
People suffering from depression:
“Stop being so negative!”
“You choose to be sad”
“You don’t even have anything to be sad about”
“There are millions worse off than you, just get a grip!”
But I’m too ashamed of my illness to tell teachers/professors why I missed an assignment, and half of those people wouldn’t “believe in” depression anyway, or think you should just “power through it.”
But hey, all the stigma surrounding mental illness is gone, right?
